Why Village Engineering?

Over 40 years solid engineering and construction experience. Supported by design engineers, project managers, skilled site construction and installation engineers, documentation and quality assurance.

Norman Leeper Managing Director Village EngineeringAbout Village Engineering

Norman Leeper, Managing Director, summarises the core skills, talents, philosophy and engineering expertise as follows:

 The Future

As a nation we have a collective responsibility to maintain a clean and healthy environment and to reduce the amount of waste we produce, to recycle or re-use as much as possible, and limit greenhouse gas emissions etc.

At Village Engineering we are collaborating with international technology partners to develop revolutionary ‘next generation’ processes for production of ‘green energy’ and elimination/minimisation of wastes.

 The Present

The day to day challenge, in the current difficult economic climate, is to conserve energy, reduce costs, minimise waste, stimulate employment opportunities, re-create manufacturing and generate exports.

Knowing the energy rating of a property invariably leads to improving insulation and heating systems which leads to saving energy and cost for the owner. We offer design and build services for recycling companies and we have specific glass recycling experience. It is no longer acceptable to landfill glass containers, but we can engineer systems for clients to convert waste glass into a valuable resource which has markets in blast cleaning and filtration.

We also sell machinery and systems from strategic international partners for glass/metal/copper cable recycling.

 The Past

We must not forget our heritage. We have a particular interest in preserving and restoring vintage agricultural tractors (see our photo gallery below). Such names as Harry Ferguson, Henry Ford, David Brown, John Deere and Heinrich Lanz were the emerging engineering entrepreneurs in the early part of the 20th century. Their contribution to the markets they served was immense. They changed forever the mechanization of farming and construction. Some years later J. C. Bamford created the iconic JCB, and subsequently every yellow coloured hydraulic digger was called a JCB regardless of who it was made by.

What will this century’s engineers leave to posterity? All around our planet there is natural beauty, rolling farmland, mountains, lakes, forests, etc. Can we, by our engineering skills, knowledge, and judgement, leave our planet at least as clean and green as we found it? As engineers, designers, creators, inventors, processors, manufacturers and builders, let us remember that if the generations that follow us in 100 years from now believe that some of our inventions are worth preserving and restoring - then the fruit of our labours has been a success.
